Day 01: Delhi
Arrive
Delhi. Welcome and assistance upon arrival at the airport. Later transfer to
hotel The Metropolitan Nikko. Overnight at the hotel. Day 02: Delh
Morning free to relax and adjust to the time zone. Afternoon city tour of Old and New Delhi.
Old Delhi - Visit Jamma Masque (1650 AD). Drive through fabled Chandni Chowk (Silver Street) and visit Red Fort (1639 - 48 AD) built by builder of Taj Mahal - Emperor Shahjehan and famous for its delicately carved inlaid and marbled royal chambers. Raj Ghat where father of the nation memorial museum, Firoz Shah Kotla (1354 AD) ruins of the fortress and the Ashok Pillar (300 BC).
New Delhi - Visit Humayun's Tomb (1565 AD) aptly called predecessor of Taj Mahal. Drive past Safdarjung's Tomb (1753 AD), 72 meter high Qutub Minar (12th Century AD) - One of the most perfect towers in the world, nearby amidst the ruins of Quwate-Islam mosque stands the iron pillar which does not rust and has stood the vagaries of weather for 1500 years. Orientation drive through New Delhi viewing Embassy area (Diplomatic Enclave); Government buildings ( 1921 -30 AD), Central Secretariat, Parliament House, Visit India Gate (1921 AD). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 03: Delhi - Jaipur
Morning depart for Jaipur by coach. On arrival check-in at hotel Clarks Amer. Rest of the day free to relax or explore this Pink city on your own. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 04: Jaipur
This
morning visit Amber Fort - you are transported back in time today, riding like
royalty a top elegantly draped and painted Elephants, up into the high mountain
Fortress of Amber. Later enjoy a tour of Jaipur city, visiting Hawa Mahal (Palace
of Winds), city Palace and the ancient observatory. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 05: Jaipur - Sikri - Agra
Morning drive to Agra, enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri popularly known as the ghost town was once the capital of the Mughal Empire. Arrive Agra and Check-in at hotel Jaypee Palace. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Agra - visiting the magnificent Taj Mahal (1653 AD). For majority of tourists visit to India is incomplete without seeing the wonderful Taj Mahal.
Moghul emperor Shahjehan in the memory of his beloved wife marbled monument. Semi precious stones are intricately inlaid into the marbles in various patterns showing an impressive craftsmanship. Other important monument is Agra fort with its Moti Masjid (Pearl Mosque), Dewan-e-Aam, Dewan-e-Khas, octagonal tower Jehangir Palace - famous for its Hindu Persian architectural style. (Taj Mahal closed on Friday). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Agra - Jhansi - Orcha
Early in the morning after breakfast you will be transferred to railway station for Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi. Upon arrival transfer to Orchha. In the 16th and 17th centuries the Hindu Bundela rulers, who were allies of the Moghuls, built up Orchha as a provincial capital on he banks of the winding Betwa River. On the bank of the Betwa River next to Kanchana Ghat, a short walk upstream from the town proper, are 14 sandstone Cenotaphs built in honor of the former rulers. Arrive and check-in at hotel The Orchha Resort. Afternoon visit Chaturbhuj Temple, Ram Raja Temple, Dinman Hardaul's Palace. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Orcha - Khajuraho
Morning
at leisure. Afternoon drive to Khajuraho. Arrive and check-in at hotel Clarks
Khajuraho. Overnight at the hotel. Day 08: Khajuraho
Morning visit the Eastern & Western Group of temples. Khajuraho was once a religious and political capital of the Chandela dynasty who ruled Central India between 9th and 13th century. Its major
tourist attractions are the temples depicting erotic sculptures and figurines. The temples are divided into eastern and Western temples and boasts of Chandela art. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 09: Khajuraho - Gwalior
Morning drive to Gwalior - traces its history back to a legend. Gwalior was also the home of Tansen, whom many regard as the founder of North Indian classical music. Arrive and check-in at hotel Usha Kiran Palace. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Gwalior
Full day city tour of Gwalior - visit the huge Gwalior Fort (Man Mandir, Sas-ahu, Teli Ka Mandir, Gujri Mahal), the Jai Vilas Palace, Tomb of Tansen etc. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 11: Gwalior - Delhi
Morning free to explore the city on your own. Evening transfer to railway station to board your Shatabdi Express train to Delhi. Upon arrival transfer to hotel The Metropolitan Nikko. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12: Delhi
Transfer to airport for your flight abroad.
